Smart Touring Needs

My recent road trip to a Los Angeles (LA), California, my very first visit, helped me realize the pros and cons of technology. An otherwise mundane life doesn't require our tools to be smart. LA as we know is the Hollywood hub, with tons of people working in different in small jobs just to enter Film Industry. The traffic is challenging to drive in because of the roads and especially the drivers. That is the feeling when going from city like Phoenix, where traffic is so much more organized.

Since LA is a huge city, for a person going there for the first time, requires constant suggestions to get to know places. The tripAdvisor, Yelp are some of the apps helped quite a bit. But apart from the help, there were times the suggestions led us to trouble.

On our first day, we head to the Downtown LA, Grand avenue, Olvera street (oldest street in LA). We tried to find parking and all the suggestions provided by Internet suggestions were closed because it was Saturday and most parking lots are closed. Fortunately asking around helped to find the good one.

Then battery is one huge concern for smart phones. It gets impossible to talk to people, search places around and browse all day. A fully charged smart phone dies out by mid-Evening. Existing solutions for this problem are either stationary (need to attach the phone to outlet or external battery), or bulky (a double rechargeable external battery cover).

I am aware that these problems are already out there to be solved. These seems important issues to be voiced out. "Smart phones cannot be smart if it has no life".

Thank you for taking time to read the post and your critical views are always appreciated.

The future of Technology

As smart phones, tablets, typically Wi-Fi and 3G/4G supported devices are currently ruling the world and the prediction that Windows and www will vanish in the coming years, I just wanted to question the prediction/situation with my current knowledge. A part of today's article is also from the information acquired from the TED talk "How to prepare for the future of the Internet".

With Apple introduing the iPhone and iPad, computers/laptops/PCs are losing their demand (or so it is said). It is unclear whether the commercial demand is considering the vast areas of technology cannot go without desktops/laptops mainly because the tablets/smart phones cannot compete the performance that a desktop, that can be optimized to our needs: with Tera bytes of storage (so that no unknown cloud space need to be trusted with information), 16GB(or higher) RAM etc. Such huge specs are very much necessary for higher education, academic and industrial research.

The future of Technology, I see is the co-existence of Tablet world and PC world, that satisfies mobility needs and performance needs respectively. Therefore, I feel(a personal opinion) it may be not be right to predict the extinction of www or Windows in the future.

Becoming an effective Blogger

Well, first thought to your mind may be, how in the world, do I have the right to talk about Blogging with my Blogspot hardly even filled. This post is from a person, who wanted to blog ever since 2007, but the lack of information, ideas and ofcourse fear of not being noticed prevailed. What's the difference now? I don't give a damn about all that, I consider Blogging like writing a diary, a public one (so ofcourse details restricted) which may be useful for atleast one person sometime.

Here I go, long back when I wanted to be a Blogger, I created this account but downside is what I already mentioned. Three years went without many posts. When I came to Graduate School, I got introduced to Twitter, I thank my stars for this site. I was able to start small, with some tweets a few days, no tweets the other days but atleast I got rid of my fears.

Now a sudden realization that Twitter has word limit and I want to spread more information and thus this sudden attempt to restart blogging with posts of whatever I find relevant. (Thus, a small introduction to this Blog, an attempt to spread small interesting information, tips etc that may be useful.)

Therefore, if you are a person like me, who wants to blog but doesn't know where to start, start tweeting. You will find your information epicenter!! :D

Cheers

Why a programs goes "Not Responding" in Windows?

Have you seen that sometimes one of yours many programs starts "Not Responding": Such a scenario can happen many times, some examples I know of are:
1. When shockwave flash in Google Chrome stops working
2. When you load too many programs.

What generally happens when you load a Program is, you try to bring its content from RAM(Random Access Memory)/ROM (Read-only Memory) to your cache, so that it will easily loadable or re-loadable.

When you load a program to your cache, you are trying to change a virtual physical address that you obtained from the RAM/ROM to a physical address of the cache. Now the programs that are already existing in your desktop have taken the physical address of the cache, when the newly loaded program tries to replace the physical address of the already existing program, a conflict occurs, so there is a temporary pause in the progress of the program (the state of "Not Responding") which is soon recovered by the processor and you get back your working program.

Note: Information piece of information I gathered, any queries/feedback are appreciated.

Om Shanti Om!!!

Ok...so here's a post from me after a very long time....
The latest news is Om Shanti Om...the most happening movie in the country at the moment...Starring The King Khan and Introducing Deepika Padokone and directed by The only Woman Director Farah Khan. Its a Terribly Good Movie...and anyone whose waiting to laugh out loud should watch the movie... Its has all the stuff a movie should have, no exaggeration in any scene...
This post is not to explain the story so ill not be telling any part of the story....

Shah rukh's is as usual exceptional. Apart from his usual style, he has an element of richness in the film. But what’s different about the movie are Beautiful Deepika and the best song of the year "Dewangi Dewangi"....this is not only different but an exclusive treat to the audience. The acting of deepika is sophiscated and neat!!!!! She is superb addition to Bollywood industry and protrayed the 70's acting very well, could say she did better than shah rukh in that....

Hats Off to Farah Khan for making a movie not only enjoyable but much different from all the others. since the most important aspect in making a film at the present times is that it should be different.
Farah has explored her ideas in a productive way !!! the best part is its a very informal movie, much like her previous film "Main Hoon Naa"...Bringing in the whole Bollywood was the best idea....those scenes were superb!!!!The movie is for all ages that’s a another positive aspect.[Proof for it is there was a small kid sitting behind us in the theatre for some scenes the small child was laughing out deafening our ears!!!]

The music guess wasn’t blockbuster hit but it fits in the movie…songs like “ajab si” and “dewangi dewangi” didn’t impress the audience though.

Any movie cant be perfect there will be certain negatives points too.the drawback of this movie and the very evident one is the sequence of the movie..its a fast-paced movie and everything happens so suddenly...and moreover the arrangement of the movie is happy-sad-happy-sad-...etc...so there is confusion with what we have to feel. Otherwise the movie is a HIT and MUST-SEE!!!!!

So,here's Om Shanti Om from my point of view....Film previews are very common but this is different because it is written by me!!!(Grin!!!)

Easter Awareness

Easter is around the corner,so i decided to share the little knowledge i have about easter or rather lenten season. the lenten season starts on a wed(monday for some) in the month of feb mostly.the date is fixed according to the christian lithurgical calender.this season continues for a period of40 days.these 40 days we are asked to sacrifice on something we r really fond of.this period ends with the celebration EASTER.the lenten season n easter is observed every year to show our gratefulness to jesus christ for having sacrificed his life for our sins.

The beginning, that is the wed is termed ash wednesday.the reason for the name is the importance of ash on that day.this is the day when jesus enters the garden and starts his penance and prayer.jesus sacrificed food for so many days, that is why we too sacrifice something, whatever is possible, the thing is not what is important, the thought iswhat counts.the ash used on this day is from the burnt palms leaves given to the church by all the members of the church(the further details will be explained later).on this day a mass(mass is a formal gathering which is presided by a priest)is conducted early in the morning, during which ash is smeared as a cross on the forehead of thepeople.

The lenten season begins....every friday the church conducts "way of the cross" service."the way of the cross" is the reminder of the various tortures jesus underwent during his walk from the city to calvery where he was nailed to the cross.the lenten season consists of 7 weeks.

The second notable event during the lenten season is the "palm sunday"(here comes with the further details of the palm).this is on thesecond last week of the lenten season.the importance of this day is thewelcoming of jesus into the city of jerusalem after the penance he took in the garden.so the people of jerusalem welcome jesus with palm leaves.on this day,the church gives all the people in the chuch palm leaves, which are later made into a cross shape n kept in their homes.these palms are given back to the church before the lenten season of the next year, which are burnt for ash wednesday.on this day did judas, the 13th disciple of jesus, betray him.

After the palm sunday starts the holy week.the cross of jesus in all churches is covered with purple satin.the following thursdayis the "maundy thursday".this day is for the remembrance of the last supper.jesus washed the feet of all his disciples' with his own hands.so the head priest of the church will wash the feet of 12 dedicated workers of the church.

The following friday is "good friday".the day when jesus was made to carry the cross and nailed to the cross, the movie "the passion of christ" very aptly shows.this day is a mournful one, where people preferblack or white outfits and spend most of the time in church.the covered cross of jesus is uncovered and is kept at the reach of the mobwho kiss the feet of jesus.

The last part of the lenten season or rather the time for rejoicing, easter sunday.saturday night at around 11pm people gather in the church with candles and empty bottles to fill it with the holy waterprovided at the end of the mass.just before the mass, the lightsare turned off and a hugh candle which is the blessed one and has the symbols of alpha and omega, which means the beginning and the end in greek,is brought to the altar.from this candle, the people light their candles.at 12 midnight, the mass is over and the people greet each other "happy easter" and rejoice the birth of the risen lord.a new beginning, the lord is risen,is more powerful and eternal.

So,i guess i have covered most of the parts which happens during lenten season.sorry if i have been vague at certain areas.my aim is togive everyone some idea of what is actually done during easter.please leave your comments both bad and good ones.thank you!!!

Miss Call or Missed Call!!

MISS CALLS and MISSED CALLS

So… miss calls and missed calls…..are they the same??????
Actually no…
Miss calls are the calls which are not meant to be attended. They are used either to indicate something like for eg. when we are going out and want to tell people at home that u reached the place or when you ask someone to come to a destination and when they reach there, they give a miss call as an indication or when we simply want to irritate our friends[:D].
On the other hand, missed calls are calls which we have missed to attend.

So……… whats the problem here ?????
These days most of our mobiles are in the silent mode, and when we see we have many “missed calls”, from this lot how are we gonna find out which is a ‘miss call’ and which is a ‘missed call’……. So can we make a universal rule here that a miss call should not exceed more than 3 rings and ofcourse a person calling will surely wait for some more time. What I want to say is every mobile should have an added facility of detecting whether a call we get is a missed call or not….
I guess the mobile must be having a programmed chip, so all it takes is to add a program like if the number of rings are <= 3, they are to be labeled as ‘miss call’ and if the number of rings are > 3, they are to be labeled as ‘missed calls’.
This is a problem im facing, it’s a very silly one, but im sure many of you out there must have felt this problem, like sometimes you see a missed call and u call back and the person says, it was only a miss call and sometimes you ignore a missed call and u get firing for that!!!!!!
